Job Description
We are a Technology Startup in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP). We are focusing on the development of Machine Learning related Products and Services for connecting Family and Community. As a research fellow, you will
- be a hands-on practitioner in introducing cutting-edge research into practical solutions that our product developers can develop.
- be responsible for researching and developing new algorithms for improving data pre- and pro-processing, machine learning models for human activity recognition and identification.
- conduct model fine tuning, performance evaluation and testing
- implement prototypes to test new ideas and algorithms.
- partner closely with our product developers and manager to explain complex technical approaches, and convert algorithms and models into product.
- be able to produce high quality research reports/papers and submit patent application
- present research result in workshops/conferences
- transfer knowledge to teams productizing research ideas.
- support product development
Basic Qualifications
A candidate should
- obtain a PhD in Machine/Deep Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Physics
- demonstrate a strong research and development track record.
- have in-depth knowledge in areas including machine learning, big data analytics, and connectivity applied in mobile, wearable, Internet-of-Things (IoT), embedded, and end-to-end environments.
- must be able to resolve ambiguity and technical issues
- have maturity, good judgment that are essential to success in this role.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- 1+ years of industry or academia experience in research or advanced R&D{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Experience in signal processing, machine learning, statistics, big data analytics for real-world problem solving{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Good programming and debugging skills in C++, Java, or Python{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Experience in machine learning libraries/tools such as Keras, TensorFlow etc.{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Experience in Unix/Linux environment and shell programming{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Ability to influence business decision with technological input, and to formulate technological solution for business problem{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Ability to take initiative, but also follow a plan and work well as part of a team.{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
- Interest to work with product development team to uncover customer needs and aspiration{cke_protected}{C}%3C!%2D%2D%20o%20ignored%20%2D%2D%3E
